Hamburg, 19. September 2017 – XING SE, the company behind the leading professional network in the German-speaking region, is opening a new technology center in Porto, Portugal. From October 2017 onwards, about 20 employees will begin work there in software development. Apart from its sites in the German-speaking region, XING also operates an additional development site in Barcelona, Spain, where over 50 employees have been successfully developing digital e-recruiting products since 2011.
Jens Pape, CTO of XING SE: “In recent years, Porto has become a very dynamic and competitive location in the tech scene. Thanks to its universities and the large number of young, international talent, the city is experiencing a boom. After our positive experience at our development site in Barcelona, we see Porto as the right location to grow our software development capacity even further. First and foremost, this will be to the benefit of our clients, and it is also an important aspect in the continued pursuit of our growth strategy.”
General Manager Miguel Garcia, a familiar face in the Portuguese tech scene, will be responsible for the continued development of the new technology center. Jens Pape adds: “Our goal is to establish XING in Porto in the long term, and we are planning to quickly add more employees to the team. In Miguel Garcia, we have found a skilled and experienced new colleague, who will work on expanding our activities in Porto.”
For the launch, XING Portugal will move into offices at UPTEC, the Science and Technology Park at the University of Porto. With the goal of strengthening its corporate identity in Europe and in a move to lessen the amount of bureaucracy in setting up subsidiaries in the European Union, XING recently changed its legal status to become a Societas Europaea.
